The Chairman of Omoluabi Golfers’ Forum, Dr. Bola Afolabi, has said that the association was formed by golfers of like minds with the purpose promoting national unity.
Afolabi stated this at the Annual General Meeting and of the association, where the leadership rendered its stewardship in the past one year to members.
In the past one year, he said the association visited a number of homes to support their activities, including Tosy Eye Foundation.
Afolabi noted: “They carry out a periodic review for people who have challenges with their sight and they render a lot of these services free of charge and we depend on the society at large to support them and that is what we have to do.
”We actually send some funds to them to enable them conduct operations on glaucoma patients, male female and also children.”
“Nigerians of Yoruba culture who are golfers from many parts of the world have been calling us to say we like what you are doing and want to be part of it, so we are promoting this, we are also helping people who want to find their feet back in Nigeria, it is a great platform for them to get back home and settle in Nigeria and support the society for national development.”
Also, a member of the forum, Oluwole Aina, said the purpose of the Forum was to promote unity, particularly among the Yoruba race and to promote the game of golfing among the Yoruba elites in our society.
He said it was also aimed at maintaining the cultural heritage of the Yoruba as a tribe.
On her part, the director of the forum, Ms. Kemi Otegbade, said they are out to promote the cultural heritage of Yoruba race.
She said the association supports honesty, culture and integrity and giving back to the society.
