Osun State, where is thy peace?
As an Osun boy who can boldly call himself OSUN OF OSUN ( My Father is from Igbajo and My Mother from Ila Orangun) with my full chest I am more osun than most people destroying the peace in my state.
As a concern son of the soil, I am deeply concerned about the political climate in my state most especially regarding recent events. All will agree with me that recently the state has been experiencing a series of disputes and legal battles affecting its governance.
I can recall vividly how I wrote through this platform months ago about kingship and enthronement dispute when our dancing governor out of lack of respect for traditional institutions went on political rascality to dethrone various kings without proper understanding and for political gain.
In Ido Osun and other towns like Igbajo ( My own town) , also Iree witnessed the emergence of two individuals claiming the Kingship that led to tension, with Chiefs and traditionalists boycotting rites for the newly politically appointed Oba.
As a concerned Osun boy again, I am not happy and I am sure Osun state is not happy with great concern following the activities going on in our state under the leadership of Ademola Adeleke.
Where is our peace???
Tens are dying daily because of your administration’s insensitivity and political blindness. We are following up with killings based on land disputes in our various towns and villages, Local government elections, top monarchs disagreement, religion disagreements etc.
Many political misfits under your watch as administrator are causing mayhem on innocent citizens with state tools to cause in various state locations which have been subject of legal and political debates.
As regards the last local government election, the Supreme Court decision in 2024 emphasised the need for Local government autonomy, cautioning governors against undue interference.
Despite this, controversies persist over appointment and sacking of duly elected officials, leading to instability and local government structures to the extent of certain individuals accusing your government of promises and failing them of appointments.
Example is a certain individual ( Ero Arike) who accused you and your government of luring her to make some payments and gifts in exchange for local government chairman for her husband even when he is not capable academically…Laughable.
(That’s how we have debased our revered State that can boldly elect thousands of capable youths. A shame to your government). Maybe returning her gifts and money will do your government justice and help cover questions that might come afterward.
Osun state, where is thy peace?
Killing your citizens on daily basis, Hospitals are now our own resort centres. Senior citizens can’t sleep with two eyes closed leading to terminal health challenges. Our youths are high level political thugs and over rated Okada boys. Osun state unemployment is one of the highest in the country.
Oh my dear State of the living Springs where is thy glory?, My one time most peaceful State, where is thy peace???.
Osun State, where is thy peace?
Many of the elites are hiding behind a finger despite series of public disagreements and allegations between Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi and Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Adburasheed Akanbi our two prominent monarchs forgetting that bi Erin meji ba n ja, Koriko ibe le ma gberi mo.
The longstanding dispute between neighboring communities of Ifon Osun and Ilobu is now spreading like wildfire to other towns and villages. Mr Governor, you met peace like a river in Osun State before you assumed office but gradually, you are systematically dancing us to a destruction, destabilising one time most peaceful state.
Mr Governor, Absolute and lasting peace is the only way forward. These conflicts only bring suffering to my people in Osun State. True leadership and community efforts should focus on dialogue, justice and mutual understanding.
Sir, as I usually advocate if you think your Michael Jackson skill is your divine calling and the lives of our people are not important to you, with due respect kindly vacate governance. We need peace in Osun state.
