There is an uneasy calm in the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) following the selection of some Assistant Commandant Generals (ACGs) perceived to be loyal to the embattled Commandant General, Ahmed Audi.
The exclusion of some ACGs from the retreat had sparked concerns about possible loyalty tests and favouritism within the Corps leadership.
TheHintsNews has exclusively reported that NSCDC in a memo dated 20th May,2024 titled; “Invitation to the Ministry of Interior top management staff conference /retreat”, and signed by DCH Adeyinka Ayinla on behalf of Audi invited some ACGs to a retreat scheduled to hold at transcorp.
It reads: “I am directed to invite all Zonal Commanders of the corps to the Ministry of Interior, Top management Conference/Retreat schedule as follows:
“Date: 24″ – 26″ May, 2024, Venue: Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Time: 0900hrs daily. Please note that promptness and attendance is mandatory.”
A relaible source in NSCDC revealed that the divide and rule method has led to speculation that those invited might be expected to speak favourably about Audi when interacting with the ministerial panel of inquiry.
The source said: “It has been noted that not all Assistant Commandant Generals (ACGs) from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) were invited to participate in the upcoming ministerial retreat, whereas sister agencies such as the Immigration Service, Fire Service, and Correctional Service had all their Deputy Commandant Generals (DCGs) and ACGs invited.
“This raises questions about the criteria for selection and potential discrimination within the NSCDC.
“The exclusion of some ACGs from the retreat has sparked concerns about possible loyalty tests and favouritism within the Corps leadership.
“It appears that only a select few ACGs, perceived as loyal to the current leadership, were invited to the retreat.
“This has led to speculation that these individuals may be expected to speak favourably about the Commandant General when interacting with the Ministerial panel of inquiry.
“These observations warrant further investigation and clarification to ensure transparency, inclusivity, and fairness within the NSCDC.”
