Ahead of the 2027 elections, the Minister of Transportation, Senator Said Alkali has officially tendered his resignation to pursue his gubernatorial ambition.
The move followed the presidential directive requiring all political appointees seeking elective offices to step down from their current roles.
A statement issued on Tuesday by his Special Assistant, Media and Publicity, Umar Jibril, said the minister resigned to contest for the governorship in the upcoming elections.
He noted: “In his letter, he expressed deep appreciation to the President for the opportunity to serve, citing significant progress made in the transportation sector during his tenure.
“The President has accepted the resignation and thanked the Minister for his dedicated service to the nation.”
