The state of my alma mater Adifase High School, Apata Ibadan is nothing short of heartbreaking.
Once proud institution of citadel learning, these school is now crumbling under the weight of neglect and decay.
The rock of education is now a stark example.
This esteemed institution, alma mater of many notable individuals , is battling broken structures, decaying workshops, and classrooms that are barely habitable.
Students and staff members are living in fear, worried about their safety and well-being. “We feel like our future is being quietly destroyed,” one student lamented. The school’s administration acknowledges the severity of the situation, blaming inadequate funding for the deplorable state of the infrastructure.
This issue isn’t unique to Adifase alone but Across Nigeria, schools are suffering from similar neglect.
Many schools constructed by the Oyo State government are abandoned, with stolen facilities and overgrown weeds.
The story is the same other schools around Apata , where they are on the brink of collapse, prompting alumni to plead for government intervention.
These institutions, once beacons of hope and learning, are now symbols of government neglect.
It’s time for authorities to take urgent action. The Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers has expressed concern over the poor state of public buildings, including schools, and is calling for the implementation of Executive Order 11, which focuses on maintaining public assets.
Alumni associations are stepping in to help, but their efforts are a drop in the ocean.
The Alumni of Adifase High School Class of 2002, for instance, has undertaken major projects to uplift our alma mater, including repainting the school and sponsoring students.
However, such initiatives shouldn’t be a substitute for government responsibility.
The government must prioritize education and allocate sufficient funds for infrastructure development.
It’s not just about buildings; it’s about the future of Nigeria’s youth. As I always say, “Investing in their living conditions will undoubtedly create an environment conducive to learning and enable them to reach their full potential.

The time for excuses is over. It’s time for action. The government must act now to save Adifase Hight School from further decay and restore Nigeria’s education system to its former glory.
We are calling Gov. Seyi Makinde, comm. Of Education and Ministry of Education to help us and come to our aid….
Adidase high School, Apata is bleeding, Citadel of the learning is pleading… The alumni of 2002 set is praying for infrastructure repairing…
God bless Adifase High School…
