Africa School of Sales and Management (ASSAM) has urged the Federal Government to as a matter of urgency, prioritise revenue generation by investing in platforms that equip Nigerians with practical sales and income-generation skills, as part of efforts to strengthen the economy.
It noted that Nigeria’s economic challenges could be addressed by empowering individuals and businesses to increase earnings, rather than relying solely on salaries.
Its Executive Officer, Dr Femi Joshua, while speaking on the sidelines of its 2026 Sales Power Conference with the theme “Sell Smart, Win Big” in Abuja, advised the Government to create similar platforms where citizens could learn practical revenue-generation strategies.
He stressed that government institutions must also focus on boosting internally generated revenue to drive economic stability.
Joshua opined that salary-based income alone was no longer sufficient to meet basic needs, noting that skills acquisition and revenue-driven training offered more sustainable economic benefits.
He said: “structured sales and revenue training would enable professionals and companies to improve performance, create jobs and increase disposable income, with a ripple effect on national economic growth.”
He explained that participants at their previous training have improved their sales capacity, earn higher commissions, enhanced their living standards and support their dependents, while companies that grow revenue are able to expand operations and employ more people.
Speaking in a similar vein, Dr. Elisha Manman, stated the need for sales executives to set goals that are effective, achievable, relevant and time bound saying sales is what can be done by everyone.
Elishama, a guest speaker at the conference, urged participants to be intentional by being goal oriented, avoid wasting time, focus and be clear ensuring to do the exact thing that needs to be done.
According to him, Any company that doesn’t sell will die. Hence our idea is to give the sales representatives the right skill and knowledge to boost their income.
