•Says N85bn being brandished false
The immediate past minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, says less than N3 billion was expended on Nigeria Air.
The ex-Minister also said that the federal government has released less than N3 billion budgetary allocation to Nigerian Air since inception of the project.
Sirika made the disclosure when he spoke on Arise TV monitored by our correspondent in Abuja.
He said the N85 billion being brandished as purportedly spent on Nigeria Air was false and baseless.
Sirika noted the bulk of the money has been spent on consultancies, salaries and administrative costs.
He also said Nigerian Air won’t enjoy even special tax privileges as all the taxes other airlines are exposed to will be the same taxes Nigeria Air will be paying.
TheHintsNews recalls that few weeks ago, an aircraft bearing the logo of Nigeria Air was sighted in Abuja.
However, the acting Managing Director of Nigeria Air, Dayo Olumide, while peaking before the Senate Committee on Aviation last Tuesday, disclosed that the airplane that landed at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja on May 26, 2023, was a chartered one from Ethiopia.
