The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has issued traveled alert to the motoring public of the collapse of a bridge along the Katsina–Batsari route, a few meters after Salbak Filling Station, near Shagari Lowcost, Katsina State following a heavy downpour on Saturday night.
Assistant Corps Marshal, Corps Public Education Officer, Olusegun Ogungbemide, in a statement issued Sunday said the affected section has been temporarily closed to traffic, and the area has been cordoned off from both ends by FRSC personnel to safeguard road users.
He noted that following an on the spot assessment by the Sector Commander, Maxwell Lede on Sunday, am alternative routes have been provided as follows: “From Katsina to Batsari: Use Ring Road via Al-Qalam University. From Batsari to Katsina: Use the Army Barracks–Jibia Road to reconnect.”
Ogungbemide stressed that motorists are strongly advised to avoid the collapsed bridge site to prevent road crashes, especially during late evening hours or in rainy conditions when visibility is poor.
The Corps also called on media houses to amplify this advisory for public awareness, because road Safety is a shared responsibility.
