The All Progressives Congress (APC) has raised the alarm over alleged planned protest by supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Tuesday in Abuja.
The planned protest, it was alleged, aimed influencing proceedings at the Edo State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Abuja
To this end, the APC has alerted security agencies and urged them to be proactive in preventing planned disruption.
TheHintsNews reports that the PDP and its candidate Asue Ighodalo are currently challenging the outcome of the September 21 governorship election in Edo state won by the APC candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo.
The Chairman of APC in Edo state, Jarret Tenebe, in a statement issued on Monday vowed that the party would not tolerate any attempt to compromise the judicial process or disrupt the peace.
He urged the security agencies, including the Police, Department of State Services DSS, and Nigeria Army, to be vigilant and take necessary measures to prevent a potential disruption of the Attorney General’s office by supporters of PDP.
Tenebe said: “The PDP and supporters of its governorship candidate, Asue Ighodalo plan to carry out this unlawful act on Tuesday. The disruption allegedly aims to influence the ongoing Edo State Governorship tribunal.”
He, therefore, aurged the security agencies to take the threat serious and hold organisers of the protest accountable for the outcome of their actions.
