The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) spent the sum of N169,389,000 to feed 18,821 personnel deployed from various states for three days during the 2022 Ekiti Governorship election, TheHintsNews can authoritatively report.
The NSCDC is one of the security agencies that provide security during the off season and general election in the country.
However, the tenure of the Commandant General of NSCDC, Ahmed Audi has been fraught with allegations of corruption at various times.
According to a document sighted by TheHintsNews, the feeding of the personnel was awarded to three different companies, while a separate company handled hotel accommodations for all the personnel during the election.
TheHintsNews reports that the NSCDC awarded Messr Akhad Resources Ltd the contract for the feeding of 6,271 personnel for three at Emure and Aiyekere local government areas for the sum of N56,439,000.
Similarly, the NSCDC also awarded Messer Samadsalamrise Nig Ltd the contract for the feeding of 6,276 personnel for three days during Ekiti gubernatorial election at Irepodun, Ifelodun and Moba LGA at the cost of N56,484,000.
In the same vein, the NSCDC also awarded Messr Yusufaries Nig. Ltd the contract for the feeding of 6,274 personnel for three days at Ijero and Iljemeje LGA at the cost of N56,466,000.
However, the corps awarded Messrs Kmak Enterprises Nig the contract of renting hotel accommodation for the officers deployed from various states for election duty at the cost of N40 million.
Investigation revealed that the corps also awarded contract to Messrs Double Pocket Ltd for erection of operational post in 16 LGAs of Ekiti State during 2022 gubernatorial election at the cost of N9,600,000
The NSCDC also awarded contract to Messrs Kolmak Excellence Services for the fabrication of 50 dog cages for Ekiti Gubernatorial Election 2022 at the cost of N17 million.
The document also revealed that the corps awarded contract to Messrs Salamcy Global Services Ltd for maintenance and servicing of 180 operational vehicles for the 2022 Ekiti state governor election at the cost of N31,600,000.
TheHintsNews further gathered that the training of both senior and junior have been allegedly monetised with the compulsory payment of N20,000 as training fees.
According to a reliable source who pleaded anonymity for fear of victimisation said the compulsory payment of N20,000 did not represent capacity building but the monetisation of professional development, with the shifting the burden of institutional responsibility onto already overstretched personnel, despite this was adequately budgeted.
The source added: “Serious questions trail the alleged engagement of the Commandant General’s brother to develop a “curriculum” reportedly costing millions of naira. Four years later, this curriculum remains neither mainstream nor publicly implemented, raising concerns of conflict of interest, waste, and diversion of resources with no tangible benefit to officers’ career progression.
“Postings, particularly to lucrative State Commands, are widely a common cash-and-carry transactions, in NSCDC with figures ranging between N5 million and N10 million reportedly exchanged before appointments were approved.
“This practice institutionalises corruption at the highest levels, rewarding financial muscle over competence and integrity.”
As of the time of filing this report, the spokesperson of NSCDC, Mr. Babawale has not responded to the allegations.
