The Coalition of Civil Society Organisations for Democracy has called on the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun to immediately arrest of the leader of the Kwankwasiyya movement, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
The coalition alleged that the Kwankwassiya movement was also planning to attack prominent members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) both within and outside Kano State.
Its National Secretary, Otunba Eniola Enaife, while addressing a press conference on Thursday in Abuja said the call became imperative following the alleged plan by the Kwankwasiyya Movement to occupy the Supreme Court premises and foreign missions in the country ahead of the Kano state governorship election judgement.
It stated: “The time to arrest Kwankwaso and one Ladipo Johnson, a crisis merchant engaged to carry out most of the onslaught is now! They are ready to make the Country ungovernable to serve their personal interest.
“We unequivocally call on the Inspector General of Police to stand up to his responsibility by arresting Mr Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso because his desperation to malign the image of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the judiciary by causing ethnic and religious war in the Country is clearer now, than a clean water.”
It noted that this act must be prevented and stopped by the security agencies before it goes out of hand.
It maintained that it would not hesitate to raise alarm whenever it notices any sinister move to cause trouble before and after the judgement of the Supreme Court.
It added: “They have arranged to occupy the Supreme Court premises and foreign missions in the Country even though the Board of trustee of the NNPP in a press conference has agreed that Engr Abba Kabir Yusuf was not a member of their party as of the time he was elected Governor of Kano State.”
He said the group was determined to resist every form of intimidation, blackmail against the President Bola Tinubu and the judiciary.
