The Lagos State Ministry of Environment and Water Resources has commenced the removal of perimeter fences located within two meters of drainage channels on Norman Williams, Awolowo, and Dodan Barracks drainage in Ikoyi.
It said the demolition of the perimeter fences followed the expiration of served contravention notices and an additional grace period arrived at during a stakeholders meeting with the property owners convened by the state government.
The spokesperson for the Ministry, Kunle Adeshina, made this known in a post shared on his X (Twitter) handle on Monday.
“Operatives of the Drainage Enforcement and Compliance dept of MOE&WR on Monday manually commenced the removal of wall fences within the 2 meters setback of the Awolowo Rd, Norman Williams, Dodan Barracks Drainage Collector in Ikoyi manually.
“This followed the expiration of served contravention notices and an additional grace period arrived at during a stakeholders meeting with the property owners convened by the state government,” Adeshina tweeted.
