The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has announced that it would close forum offices in seven states.
The seven states according to a statement issued on Friday are: Enugu, Ekiti, Kogi, Edo, Ondo, Imo and Oyo states.
It said: “In accordance with the Electricity Act 2023, the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has officially transferred regulatory authority to the following seven states: Enugu, Ekiti, Kogi, Edo, Ondo, Imo and Oyo states.
“As a result, the newly established State Electricity Regulatory Commissions (SERCs) in those states will now oversee all aspects of electricity regulation. Consequently, NERC will be closing its 6 Forum Offices in those regions.
“Closure Status: Enugu Forum Office: Closed 22 October 2024; Ekiti Forum Office: Closed 22 October 2024; Imo Forum Office: Scheduled to close on 31 December 2024; Oyo Forum Office: Scheduled to close on 5 February 2025; Edo Forum Office: Scheduled to close on 20 February 2025; Kogi Forum Office: Scheduled to close on 12 March 2025.”
NERC, therefore, directed customers in these states are encouraged to direct any electricity-related complaints to their respective SERCs moving forward.
