The police have rescued four years old kidnapped victims, and arrested seven suspected fraudsters in Katsina, Nasarawa and Jigawa states.
Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi in a statement issued Saturday said operatives of Katsina state police Command acting on a complaint received on February 20, 2025, from one Alhaji Badamasi Bala of Madaci Yan Nono Quarters have cracked a disturbing case of kidnapping involving a 14-year-old girl and her 4-year-old sister.
He noted: “Four months later, the older sister resurfaced and, upon further investigations, she confessed to staging the kidnapping and conspiring with three accomplices, aged 25, 19, and 16, respectively.
“All suspects have been arrested, and the 4-year-old sister has been rescued unhurt.”
Adejobi noted that in Nasarawa State, following credible intelligence on the movement of a suspected arms trafficker, operatives of the State Police Command launched a swift and strategic operation along the Giza–Kadarko Road in Keana LGA, where a suspicious individual riding an unregistered Bajaj motorcycle was flagged down.
He added that upon sighting the operatives, the suspect abandoned the motorcycle and fled into a nearby bush to evade arrest.
Adejobi noted: “A thorough search of the abandoned vehicle led to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle, two magazines, and 45 rounds of 7.62x39mm live ammunition. Efforts are underway to arrest the fleeing suspect.”
Similarly, the force Spokesperson revealed that on June 13, 2025, a joint team comprising operatives of the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies acting on credible intelligence, conducted a coordinated raid at Kankare and Zurkuda villages in Birnin Kudu LGA, Jigawa State.
He said the operation led to the arrest of seven suspected fraudsters involved in a network of financial crimes.
Adejobi stressed that exhibits recovered from them include 46,100 counterfeit United States Dollars, four POS machines, 13 Android smartphones, 29 keypad phones, 6 power banks, two vehicle plate numbers, and various documents suspected to be linked to electronic fraud.
He said all suspects are currently in custody and undergoing investigation.
