The Pastors in politics are losing their mandate and moral compass. Let’s forget all the ‘Yes Daddy’ members, many are leaving faith of our fathers because of some of our Daddies aligning with politicians by colouring it with thou sayest the Lord…
Daddy David Oyedepo recent comment about the progress of governance in Nigeria under this administration to many is politically motivated base on the timing… ( Don’t ask me the timing: 2027 is around the corner). Breaking of three years silence on politics is important now that their anointed candidate is now going around preaching ‘Yes Daddy’ gospel.
In a sermon at Faith Tabernacle in Ota, Oyedepo stated and I quote; “You are not doing well”, which he directed to the government of the day.
His remarks highlight concerns about spiritual leaders prioritising power over principle. When pastors endorse politicians, they risk being seen as more interested in personal gain than serving their flock, eroding trust in the church and undermining their prophetic voice.
Growing up, my believe was that church suppose to shape society moral fabric but what we are seeing today is that pastors now prioritise their stomach and power above spiritual mandate.
Sincerely speaking, I think the bible we as congregation are reading is different from what our Daddies are reading. The Bible warns against the dangers of loving money and power ( 1 Timothy 6:10, Matthew 6:24 ). I want to believe that what we are thinking is not what is happening. Hope it’s not more of lining pockets than serving the flock…
Maybe I need to tell our Daddies that their partisan politics is creating divisions within the congregations, pitting members against each other and distracting from core mission of spreading the Gospel. Our Lord Jesus Christ is a perfect example when he refused to be swayed by political ideologies and instead focusing on the kingdom of God ( John 18:36) .
It is not too late for our Daddies to maintain integrity and prophetic voices, prioritising spiritual guidance, equipping the flocks with biblical values and principles will be better than endorsing specific politicians or parties.
Let’s understand fully that when the pastor becomes ‘Yes Daddy’ the church loses its salt.
It’s time for our Daddies to reevaluate their priorities and reclaim their prophetic voice.
Nigeria is working and the government is trying to rewrite the wrongs of the past.
Rome was not built in a day and winners Chapel did not become global in a day, It takes gradual process. Let’s give the government time to handle wrongs and mess we all created. Irrespective of your title in Nigeria, the present state of the country political, economy, etc, we all contributed in one way or the other.
“Bi Nigeria se da loni, Gbogbo wa la lowo nibe”…
Let’s us all build the wall afresh, let’s create a better country anew. A new country without pest and diseases. Let’s pray and support the government of the day.
