Statisense has revealed that 30 per cent of commercial banks’ branches are located in Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial nerve centre.
It further revealed that the top five banks by branches in Lagos are: Access Bank — 186; First Bank — 177; Zenith Bank — 141; UBA — 125 and Fidelity Bank — 96.
Data provided on the verified X handle of Statisense on Wednesday revealed that commercial bank branches by zone as at May 2024 with the South West having 1,959 branches; South South – 748; North Central – 712; South East — 544; North West – 454 and North East – 232.
The data indicated the number of commercial banks’ branches as at May 2024 with the First Bank leading with — 731 branches; Access Bank — 583; UBA — 458; Zenith Bank — 397; Union Bank — 357; Fidelity Bank — 308; Ecobank — 273; GTBank — 219; Polaris Bank — 210;Unity Bank — 210; FCMB — 203; Stanbic IBTC — 177; Sterling Bank — 156; Heritage Bank — 126.
