Troops of Operation Fansan Yamma have continued their relentless and determined offensive against terrorist elements within Sububu Forest neutralising several terrorists.
Its Media Information Officer, Capt. David Adewusi in a statement issued Sunday said troops of Sector 2, 8 Division, while advancing into identified terrorist hideouts engaged hostile elements in Indulumu and Ruduno villages, decisively neutralised several terrorists during fierce encounters.
He noted that in the course of the operations, the gallant troops recovered 2 x AK-47 rifles, one magazine loaded with 28 rounds of ammunition, and a pair of woodland camouflage uniforms, while two motorcycles used by the terrorists for movement and attacks were destroyed on the spot.
Maintaining operational momentum, Adewusi revealed that the troops conducted extensive exploitation of the forest, uncovering and destroying several terrorist camps and life-support structures, significantly degrading the terrorists’ logistical capabilities.
He added: “In a notable move, the troops successfully rescued a 13-year-old kidnapped victim, Halira Ibrahim, reaffirming their unwavering commitment to protecting innocent citizens.”
