Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) Spikers and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence (NSCDC) women’s team are currently unbeaten at the ongoing 2023 Nigeria Volleyball Premier League (2nd phase) in Abuja.
CNS Spikers beat Nigeria Immigration Service 3-0 (25-15, 25-15, 25-10); while NSCDC defeated Benue Queens 3-0 (25-11, 25-17, 25-6) at the Moshood Abiola Stadium on Sunday.
2022 National Division 1 Champions, CNS Spikers did not waste time in dispatching one of the longest volleyball clubs in the country, Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS).
NIS who are currently rebuilding their team after missing out veteran players like Dorathy Egbum and a host of others could not withstand the fire powers of CNS Spikers. CNS Spikers won the first and second set by 25 to 15 points before nailing NIS by 25 to 10 points in the third set.
NSCDC humbled Benue Queens in the first set by 25 to 11 points. The Makurdi based team came out better in the second set but lost 17 to 25 points. Coach Samuel Ajayi with some vital changes in the third set, gave NSCDC a big win with 25 to 6 points.
In the last women’s match, Kada Emeralds won against Anambra Queens in a four set thriller (25-22, 13-25, 24-26, 25-15) which thrilled the spectators.
