The camp of the Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, appears to have been depleted after some of his close supporters pledged allegiance to the Governor, Siminalayi Fubara.
Fubara, who had initially lost the grip of the political structure in the state, now appeared to be finding some footings as Wike’s staunch supporters pledged their loyalty to him.
A member representing Ikwerre/Emohua Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Boniface Emerengwa, recently pledged loyalty to the government of Fubara.
Also, other National Assembly lawmakers, who paid solidarity visit to the governor at the Government House, Port Harcourt, Monday evening, included Anderson Allison (APC-Okrika/Ogu/Bolo), Boma Goodhead (PDP-Asari Toru/Akuku Toru), Awaji-Inombek Abiante (PDP-Andoni/Opobo/Nkoro) and Umezuruike (Labour-Port Harcourt I).
Fubara, too, had accepted the pledge from Emerengwa and other political bigwigs in the state, assuring them that his government would never be distracted from delivering on its promises to Rivers people.
Emerengwa explained that he was throwing his total support and loyalty to the Fubara administration because it was indisputable that the governor was both the leader of the PDP and the state.
He said he had come to the realisation that it was unnecessary and futile to continue to struggle and fight over who controls the party and leads the State when the party and the nation’s constitutions were clear on the issue.
