The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intercepted five parcels of Loud, a strong strain of cannabis weighing 2.8 kilograms hidden in a carton coming from the United States of America. Its Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi in a statement issued Sunday also revealed that 557.2kg of skunk, 5.6kg of methamphetamine and 29.8grams of heroin were recovered from a house along Major General Isaiah Alllison Street, Opolo, Yenagoa, Bayelsa state. The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) police command has arrested 78 suspects and seized illicit drugs in raids conducted late on April 19. The coordinated raid was carried out at about 23:40 hours by  officers from Tungan Maje, Kubwa, Jabi, Nyanya, Kabusa, Karmo, Utako, Dawaki, and Gwarinpa Divisions. A fatal accident involving a truck and commercial tricycle has claimed the lives of three persons in Akure, Ondo state. The accident that occurred at the Itagbanja axis, Oke-Aro, along Idanre Road, Akure South Local Government led to the death of a couple and one other person. Bandits on Thursday carried out a deadly raid in Ringa village, located in the Ringa District of Rafi Local Government Area in Niger State, kidnapping four individuals. The large group of bandits riding on motorcycles invaded the village on April 18, 2025, at about 10.00hrs. During the attack, the assailants abducted four men Anas Shuaibu, Isah Kazuga, Mande Samari, and Bazama Kiwoji who were all residents of the village. The Police have rescued ten kidnapped victims following an intense fire fight with kidnappers in Ohosu forest in Delay state. According to Zagazola Makama, the rescue operation, which took place in the early hours of April 17, followed an intense pursuit of the kidnappers who had taken the victims into the forest. Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has sought more modernised hydrometeorological infrastructure to enhance early warning and a solid step towards reducing the early warning gaps. It added that the unprecedented weather extremes in past few years was due to lack of access to latest technologies, uncoordinated dissemination efforts, insecurity and maintainability of early warning systems must be proactively addressed.
