The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr. Festus Keyamo, Monday told the newly appointed Parastatals Chiefs and Directors of the ministry that their roles carry significant responsibilities, hence; should ensure their commitment and expertise contribute to growth and success of the sector.
Keyamo, in his keynote address at the in-house inauguration and induction for the newly appointed Executive officers and Directors in Abuja, urged them to prioritise transparency, efficiency, and collaboration to ensure effective public service delivery.
He said he was honored to address them but should quick to remember the significant responsibilities their position carries, noting: “I trust that your commitment and expertise will contribute to the growth and success of our parastatals. Together, let us strive for excellence, innovation and service to our nation.”
According to him, In a decisive move to elevate the standard of Nigeria’s Aviation sector and bolster consumer protection, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu approved significant leadership changes in the six parastatals under the Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development.
The reshuffling, announced on December 13th, Keyamo noted, reflects the President commitment to enhancing the well-being of the passengers and all stakeholders in the Aviation industry in Nigeria.
“This event is aimed at bringing together the strategic Management staff of the Ministry and the new chief executives to get to know each other and work towards the Mandate, Vision and Mission of the Ministry.
“The Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) are public institutions through which government implements its policies and programs. The Ministry is responsible for formulation and management of the government’s Aviation policies in Nigeria.
“It is directly responsible for overseeing air transportation, airport development and maintenance, provision of Aviation infrastructural services and other needs.”
Speaking further, he said that the agencies are burdened with the responsibility of giving meaning to public policies and programs for the wellbeing of the people and the achievement of the objectives and goals of government.
“MDAs are permanent institutions that ensure continuity and neutrality in governance, hence the need for the CEOs to prioritize transparency, efficiency, and collaboration to ensure effective public service delivery.
“The end result of our collective efforts is build a safe, secured and efficient aviation industry focused on making Nigeria a hub that meets international standards and best practices for the African continent.”
Keyamo added that to actualise the five-point agenda for the growth of the Nigerian Aviation value chain, the Aviation Ministry is looking forward to a new phase of partnership and collaboration, by leveraging on the immense opportunities in the sector to attract Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and joint-venture partnerships with heads of international economic organizations, presidents of transnational corporations and principals of leading privately-owned enterprises.
“As you embark on this role, remember that success is a collective effort. Foster collaboration, embrace change, and lead with vision. Your commitment to excellence will shape the future of our Ministry.
“I therefore, welcome you to a journey of leadership and innovation,” the Minister said.
