A fatal accident involving a truck and commercial tricycle has claimed the lives of three persons in Akure, Ondo state.
The accident that occurred at the Itagbanja axis, Oke-Aro, along Idanre Road, Akure South Local Government led to the death of a couple and one other person.
Two of the victims died on the spot, while the third victim reportedly gave up the ghost on the way to the hospital.
Eye witnesses said that the ghastly accident was caused by reckless driving on the part of the commercial tricyclist and the truck driver.
However, the accident created tension in the area as youth and residents mobilised to attack the truck driver, but he managed to escape from the accident scene.
The driver later turned himself in at the ‘B’ Division Police Station in Oke Aro.
Nevertheless, the irate mob marched to the police station, hurling stones and demanding justice for the victims after news filtered in that the truck driver had turned himself im.
The corpses of the victims have been deposited in the mortuary.
