The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has named the immediate past Governor of Kano state, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, as the National Chairman of the party.
TheHintsNews reports that Ganduje assumed the position following the recent resignation of the former National Chairman of the party, Senator Abdulahi Adamu and the former party’s National Secretary, Senator Iyiola Omisore.
The NEC at its meeting held at Transcorp Hilton on Thursday in Abuja also appointed former Senate spokesman, Ajibola Basiru, as the party’s National Secretary.
Meanwhile, the National Legal Adviser of the party, Ahmed El-Marzuk, has resigned from the party’s National Working Committee (NWC).
El-Marzuk, it was gathered, resigned his appointment on Wednesday, following insistence by some of his colleagues that he could no longer be in office due to some allegations against him.
A party source told TheHintsNews that he allegedly misappropriated some party’s fund. The source alleged that the sum of over N3 billion was discovered in his account.
His replacement expected his be announced at the ongoing NEC meeting.
