The Nigerian Army has confirmed that a suicide bomber was killed and another person severely injured on Monday in Abuja.
According to a statement issued Monday, t said the incident happened at about 15:30 hours, along Sunrise Water Park opposite Mogadishu cantonment popularly known as Abacha Barack’s Guzape Bye-Pass express way, Abuja.
It reads: “On 26th May, 2025, about 1530 hours, along Sunrise Water Park opposite Mogadishu cantonment popularly known as Abacha Barack’s Guzape Bye-Pass express way, Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) an explosion involving a suicide bomber (FNU) who posed as a road side tiger nut trader occured.
“Findings revealed that the deceased bomber who was armed with Improvised Explosive Device trapped to his waist tried to lace himself with the crowd including other road ride trader and motorist/motorcycle operators when the device exploded, resulting the instant death of the bomber while yet to be identified male (FNU) sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the Mogadishu cantonment hospital for Medical treatment.
“Meanwhile, the concerted efforts of the Police Anti Bomb Squad and Military ordinance team, Federal Road Safety Corps are conducting an on the spot assessment while the corps of the suicide bomber have been evacuated for further investigation, please.”
