An engineer, Jehu Nwaogbe has called out the Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON) has sub standard steel take over the market.
Nwaogbe in a post on Facebook wondered why the astronomical increase in size of sub standard steel in the market, while SON, the agency that is supposed to ensure standard steel has suddenly become ineffective.
He said: “Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON) has become a toothless bulldog. This is a vernier calliper, an instrument for testing the diameter (size) of iron rods.
“The 12mm steel rod has become 9.87mm. That means the steel rods in our markets are substandard. The worst is that there is unjustifiable increase in price. WHY?.”
