Five soldiers were killed in action following Saturday’s morning attack on troops at Sabon Gari, Damboa Local Government Area, Borno State by ISWAP terrorists.
The terrorists, it was gathered, launched the brazen assault in the early hours of January 4, killing at least five soldiers before retreating into the dense Timbuktu Triangle region.
However, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), under Operation Hadin Kai swiftly intercepted the fleeing insurgents.
During reconnaissance, the terrorists were located hiding under thick vegetation at Farin Ruwa, a known ISWAP hideout within the Timbuktu Triangle.
Precision airstrikes were conducted, neutralising scores of terrorists and destroying their motorcycles, while ensuring maximum impact on the insurgents.
