A group, Kogi Youth Emancipation for Justice has said that the purported leaked Whatsapp chats were fabricated by desperate members of the opposition party.
Recall that a WhatsApp group chat leaked on social media last week indicated that the former governor allegedly bribed tribunal judges.
However, the Convener of the Group, Mr. Ibrahim Abdul Rahim in a statement issued on Sunday accused opposition parties of resorting to untoward acts such as lies, fraud and forgery
The group, therefore, warned members of the opposition party to desist from circulating malicious information against the former Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello.
It said: “The Leadership and members of Kogi Youth Emancipation for Justice wish to urge the general public to ignore the malicious lies against his excellence, Alhaji Yahaya Bello about the leaked conversation chats being circulated on social media.
“It was fabricated by the desperate opposition party who have been rejected by the good people of Kogi State.
“Only a gullible person would believe that an enemy cannot concoct messages to defame anyone. I mean, it’s as easy as having a bunch of friends change their WhatsApp names to the victim’s and then have a conversation, take a screenshot and put it out in the world.
“With the rise of advanced photo editing software, people can now manipulate images to transform angels into devils and devils into saints.
“They are jittery, hence why they have resorted to cheap lies because they know that the fair outcome of tribunal judgement will not go their way.
“It is also worth noting that never in this vindictive message was there a conversation between Yahaya Bello and this group to bribe a Judicial officer. I urge Nigerians to put sentiments aside and use their thinking faculties. Anyone can go to whatever length to destroy someone even to the detriment of an innocent.”
