Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan has reportedly agreed a three-year deal to leave the club at the end of the month.
After impressing at Borussia Dortmund, Gundogan joined City back in 2016 in a deal worth a reported £20 million. He was Pep Guardiola’s first signing as City boss.
However, as the season draws towards a close, it looks increasingly likely that Gundogan will depart when his contract expires at the end of the month.
It has been reported that the German has agreed a three-year deal to join Barcelona.
According to Spanish news outlet Mundo Deportivo, the Catalan giants plan to confirm the transfer after this weekend’s Champions League final.
It has been claimed that Barcelona have enough salary space to allow the 32-year-old to join the club.
Barcelona manager Xavi is believed to be a huge fan of Gundogan and is likely to put him straight into the starting eleven alongside the likes of Frenkie De Jong, Pedri and Gavi.
After last weekend’s FA Cup final, Gundogan told the BBC: “Nothing is decided yet. We’re going to see what’s going to happen.”
Since joining the Etihad club, Gundogan has made 303 appearances across all competitions, scoring 60 goals.
So far, he has lifted 13 trophies as a City player, including five Premier League titles, four EFL Cups, two FA Cups and two FA Community Shields.
Gundogan will now be fully focused on the Champions League final against Inter Milan on Saturday as City look to clinch the treble after winning the FA Cup and the Premier League.
City are the overwhelming favourites to lift the European Cup for the first time in their history when they take on the Italian side in Istanbul.
