Endless tears in Kasuwan Daji, Demo Village, Borgu LGA of Niger State. Tears for loved ones slaughtered by terrorists last Saturday. The tears of many in this community may never dry. Families have lost their breadwinners. Husbands and wives have lost companions. Sons and daughters have been slaughtered by terrorists. The bastards invaded Kasuwan Daji, killed no fewer than 30 persons, burnt the market, looted shops and abducted scores of people. Like previous terror attacks in Nigerian communities, they operated for hours unhindered. The response to distress calls came several hours after the terrorists had left the village. This will happen again, and again in different communities across Nigeria. What a country!
What followed from President Bola Tinubu was the usual rhetoric. The customary bombast. The usual presidential grandiloquence: “President Bola Tinubu has ordered a manhunt for the terrorists responsible for a deadly attack on communities in Niger State. the President said he had directed the Minister of Defence, the Chief of Defence Staff, the Service Chiefs, the Inspector-General of Police and the Director-General of the Department of State Services to track down the perpetrators of the Kasuwan Daji attack and ensure they are brought to justice.”
The President continued with his fustian: “These terrorists have tested the resolve of our country and its people. They must face the full consequences of their criminal actions. No matter who they are or what their intent is, they must be hunted down. In addition, those who aid, abet or enable them will also be brought to justice. We must stand together as one people and confront these monsters in unison. United, we can and must defeat them and deny them any sanctuary. We must reclaim peace for these attacked communities.”
It was, as typical, all thunder without rain. Four days after the dastardly attack, none of the terrorists had been apprehended. I mean, not even just one. It did not happen. It many never happen. Bullets are not raining on the terrorists. This is because our security agents lack the equipment and manpower for modern policing and counter-terrorism. They can’t even monitor the movement of these terrorists with drones. The President pretends to be unaware. Can you imagine the Niger State Police Command saying that attackers operated with little resistance “due to the remoteness of the area?” How can this be coming from the police in this modern era of policing with drones? This is plainly a disgraced police force. Our security agents also lack motivation from those leading us in this country. It’s a big shame.
Mr. President, Nigerians are sick and tired of your rhetoric whenever terrorists strike. They want practical actions. Nigerians want an end to killings. They want terrorist decimated. Mr. President, recently, while proffering solutions to the raging killings and abductions in beloved Nigeria, former president Olusegun Obasanjo, strongly echoed what I have spent the last twelve years campaigning for as a rapid solution to terrorism in Nigeria i.e., seeking help from private military contractors for the Nigerian armed forces. This is the way to go.
Any government truly interested in ending terrorism in Nigeria must engage private military contractors. Those opposed to this country engaging foreign military contractors to end the war against terrorists are coldblooded. They are largely people benefitting from the madness through military contracts. These people are making blood money; the blood of thousands of Nigerians being slaughtered by terrorists. Last year, no fewer than 5000 hapless Nigerians were killed by terrorists. Thousands of others abducted and released with ransoms. Scores died in the dungeons of the terrorists while their relations were mobilising ransoms.
Nigeria is bleeding. Abductions and killings of civilians pour. Scores of worshippers abducted since December 14, 2025, at Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) in Ayetoro-Kiri, Kabba/Bunu LGA of Kogi State, are yet to be released. The abductors want N200 million. It is pertinent to state that technology, intelligence, quality equipment and quality manpower are necessities for taming terrorists in this modern era. Drones for intelligence gathering and attacks are vital. Armoured attack helicopters are also vital. Our security agencies lack these.
They obviously lack the capacity to effectively monitor the movement of terrorists. This is why these guerrillas move around in hundreds undetected across Nigeria. The Nigerian state must immediately engage private military contractors from climes that can help this country tame terrorists; not the recent rubbish strikes by President Donald Trump. I will always recommend Israeli or Canadian military contractors.
Mr. President, the only way to end terrorism is by consistently killing terrorists; not by any hopeless non-kinetic approach. Enough of deradicalization and rehabilitation programmes for terrorists. This is the truth that must be told. And one more thing, Mr. President: You need a Nobel brain as National Security adviser. The man currently occupying the position is incompetent.
