The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo on Thursday hinted that no fewer than 150 aviation companies has so far indicated interest in the forthcoming Nigeria International Airshow scheduled for April, 2025.
The three-day event, Keyamo said was aimed at promoting Africa’s aviation industry and drive economic
growth.
The minister, during a press briefing in Abuja noted that the Nigeria International Airshow (NIA) is an amalgamated marketplace for Aviation and Aerospace Development in Africa.
He said it aims to be the leading aviation event in the region that would facilitate awareness, innovation, opportunities and investments in the industry.
Keyamo stated: “NIA, a foremost event in Nigeria is in alignment with continental and global initiatives such as IATA, ICAO, AfBAA, AFCAC and CAA.
“The Federal Ministry of Aviation is gearing up to showcase the Nigeria International Airshow, a three-day biennial conference and airshow aimed at stimulating aviation as a positive tool for economic development in Africa.
“The event will bring together top industry stakeholders, investors, regulators, and government bodies to share ideas, experiences, and challenges, with the goal of fostering intra-African trade, tourism, and investment.”
The minister further explained that the event promises to be a game-changer for Nigeria’s aviation industry.
His words: stating: “I’m excited to see the impact it will have on the country’s economic development.
“The objectives is to promote African Continental Free Trade Area and Single African Air Transport Market, unlock Nigeria’s aviation potential and showcase infrastructure, foster collaboration and investment in aviation infrastructure development, enhance economic activities, job creation, and tourism.”
Keyamo stressed that Nigeria’s aviation industry has vast potential for growth, saying collaboration and investment are crucial for infrastructure development.
“We want to run a one trillion dollar economy. This government is headed there. The tough decisions taken will stay us in that direction.
This event promises to be a game-changer for Nigeria’s aviation industry and the African continent. The event is scheduled to take place in April next year and will be a powerful platform to advance Nigeria’s aviation efforts, ” the minister said.
