The Lagos state government has revealed that the
a collapsed building at No. 20 Amusu Street, Baale, Orile Iganmu was already marked for demolition before it collapsed Monday morning.
The Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso in a statement issued Monday revealed that occupants of the distressed building had already evacuated two weeks ago.
He said: “A distressed storey building already marked for demolition has collapsed in Orile-Iganmu.
“No casualty was recorded as the building had been evacuated two weeks before the incident. In fact, it had been marked for demolition.
“The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency(LASEMA), Fire Service, Building Control Agency (LASBCA) and the Police are at the scene to ensure there are no secondary incidents.”
