The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki has said that the agency was planning to establish a new operational base to enhance seamless traffic flow around Ibeju Lekki and its environs.
Bakare-Oki disclosed this on Wednesday during a courtesy visit to the Head Office of the agency at Oshodi by Mr. Olowa Abdullahi Sesan, the Chairman of Ibeju Lekki Local Government Area.
He said, “As an agency of government saddled with the responsibility of transforming the State transportation system, we are collaborating with Ibeju Lekki Local Government for the establishment of a new operational base to address traffic challenges confronting motoring public around the axis”.
Bakare stated further that the agency was working round the clock to also ensure that the activities of multinational investments including the Lekki Free Trade Zone (LFTZ) and Lekki Deep Seaport (LDS) around Ibeju do not have any effect on the free flow of traffic along Lekki-Ajah Expressway axis.
He assured motorists and residents that more Lastma personnel have been deployed to ensure that motorists, including commercial bus drivers, comply with traffic rules and regulations around the Ibeju Lekki axis.
Earlier, the Council boss promised to fully support the Agency with every logistics to enable the immediate take-off of the new LASTMA Operational Base at Ibeju.
