A lawyer and a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the United Kingdom, Olasumbo Faseesin, has petitioned President Bola Tinubu, demanding the sack of his Chief of Staff, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila.
Faseesin in a petition addressed to the President, a copy of which was made available to TheHintsNews said the recent development has again prompted him to write, informing the President of a necessary review for political exigencies, and expediency.
He, however, noted that the appointment of Gbajabiamila could have been a political reward for commitment in the struggle that made Tinubu the President, but it has been observed that the office of Chief of Staff would only require a competent administrator who over the years have good records of treating correspondence among other things.
Faseesin noted that such office acting as the ears and eyes of the President, and promptly discharging the burden of bureaucratic responsibilities among other incidental duties.
He stressed that usually, it is a possibility that such office only answers to Mr. President as no less a mere clerical officer who must be up and doing, timely, and punctual in responding to mails, text messages and other correspondences.
He said: “Unfortunately, the compelling circumstance under which I write demands that the President review the office of a supposed gatekeeper but who have been alleged of the following:
“That Hon. Gbajabiamila, having spent over two decades in the National Assembly has limited administrative experience only in the legislature; and that Hon. Gbajabiamila through verifiable sources is unable to demonstrate resilience in taking pressure off Mr. President as the gatekeeper and clearing house for all of the President’s activities.
“He’s alleged not to pick calls or, reply text messages even now. Consequently, insulating the President from the people, including the kitchen cabinet members.”
Faseesin pointed out that It is a public knowledge that Gbajabiamila’s integrity has been roundly questioned even by the President’s allies and has suffered great mistrust.
He added: “Unfortunately, this is the first time a Chief of staff is brazenly accused and alleged of collecting bribes in money’s worth for appointments. Of course, there’s no smoke without fire and this, is, in the public domain. Mr. President, kindly investigate!
“It is, however, noteworthy, to emphasise, that, before now, the Chief of staff has been disbarred by a state in the US and can no longer practice Law on account of unprofessional misconduct and alleged fraud.
“In view of the above and other findings, it is our view that the CoS office be reviewed and made available to a more Competent Administrator enough to push the success of this administration.
“Mr President, this is not without prejudice to your recent affirmative statement conferring honour and giving assurances to the alleged Chief of staff. However, it is in public interest that I make this submission for the overall interest of our people and the country at large.”
