A former Kaduna Central Senator, Sheu Sani has said that former President of the Senate, David Mark was the governor of Niger State under the military 42 years ago when he was still in secondary school.
Sani in a post on his verified X handle said whenever Mark visits their school, he used to tell them they are the ‘leaders of tomorrow’.
The former lawmaker stated this Wednesday following Mark’s emergence as the interim National Chairman of African Democratic Party (ADP).
TheHintsNews reports that Mark while speaking said the opposition had only united to rescue the nation, rebuild her and return power to the people.
Ironically, Sani is now 57 years old, while Mark, a retired military General, who is 77 years old and he’s one of the leaders of the opposition that has vowed to take over power from President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027.
However Sani noted: “Someone just told me that “Your ex Senate Colleague, David Mark is the new chairman of the coalition”; I just corrected him that yes, we were colleagues in the 8th senate; but 42 years ago, David Mark was the Governor of Niger State when I was in Science secondary school in the same Niger State.
“We used to line up in our school uniform to receive him while he fondly called us “leaders of tomorrow”. He is a disciplinarian and a good man but not ‘new’.”
