Nigeria’s public debt portfolio has increased to ₦142.32 trillion.
According to Statisense, With an estimated 230 million Nigerians, each Nigerian now owes the sum of ₦618,783.
A further breakdown showed that a family of two now owes ₦1.24 million; a family of four owners ₦2.48 million and a family of six owes ₦3.72 million.
TheHintsNews reports that in 2015, each Nigerian owed approximately ₦69,595.
It added: “A Nigerian Child born in 2015, was indebted to ₦69,595. In 2024, indebtedness has risen by almost nine times to ₦618,783.”
