The Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo has expressed shock and sadness over the sudden death of THISDAY reporter, Adibe Emenyonu.
Emenyonu, until his death, served as the Edo State Correspondent for THISDAY Newspapers in Benin City.
TheHintsNews reports that Emenyonu died of heart attack on Saturday in Benin.
The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Fred Itua, in a statement issued Sunday described the death of Emenyonu as an immense loss, not just to his immediate family and media organisation, but to the entire Edo State media community and the State at large.
He said: “I am deeply saddened by the news of the demise of a valued member of the Nigeria Union ofJournalists (NUJ), Edo State Council, Adibe Emenyon.
“This is a truly painful moment for all of us. He was known for professionalism, thoroughness, dedication and his contributions to holding the government accountable and informing the public were invaluable.
“In this moment of grief, we are united in celebrating a life well-spent in the service of truth and society. The late Adibe Emenyonu will be remembered for his commitment to ethical journalism and dedication to duty,” he added.
Okpebholo prayed that God grants the soul of the departed eternal rest and grants his family, friends, and colleagues the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.
