Twenty-four hours after 15 members of the Ondo State House of Assembly declared support for Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s governorship ambition, the National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has changed the date for the governorship primary election.
The Speaker of Ondo State House of Assembly, Hon. Olamide Oladiji had on Monday led 14 other lawmakers to the National secretariat of the party in Abuja where they declared support for the governor.
“We are in support of continuity. We want APC to continue with the governments of Ondo State. We believe it will work out and we are giving them 100 per cent assurance that the primary elections will be peaceful, ” he had said.

The party in a statement signed by the National Organising Secretary of the party, Suleiman Argungun said that the sale of Expression of Interest and Nomination forms for would commence on April 3rd and end on April 10.
However, the ruling party in the amended schedule of activities and timetable for the 2024 gubernatorial election in Ondo State announced that the primary election would be held on Saturday, 20th April 2024.
The party in a statement issued on Tuesday by its Deputy National Chairman, South, Emma Eneukwu also revealed that Sale of Nomination and Expression of Interest Forms, as well as Delegate Forms would now commence on Wednesday, 27th March 2024 and end on Wednesday, 3rd April , 2024.
He added that screening of aspirants would be held between Thursday 11th, April 2024 and Friday, 12th 2024, while delegate congress is scheduled to hold Monday, 15th April 2024.

Meanwhile, the party has constituted a nine-member committee headed by Eneukwu to conduct the governorship primary election in Ondo State.
Its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, in a statement issued tuesday said other members of the commission included; Festus Fuanter, Victor Giadom, Prof. Abdulkarim Kana, Sulaiman Argungu, Dr. Mary Idele, Durotolu Bankole, Nze Duru, and Morka.
He said: “By a Resolution adopted at its 144th Meeting held on the 6th of March, 2024, the National Working Committee of our great Party constituted a Governorship Primary Election Committee of its members for the smooth running of election processes in Ondo State.”
