The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, has inaugurated a reconciliation committee to reconcile the Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu and his Deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
TheHintsNews reports that Akeredolu had been at loggerhead with Aiyedatiwa since he came back from his medical leave with media reports indicating that the impeachment process against the deputy hais been put in motion.
As part of the last minute effort to save Aiyedatiwa, Ganduje while inaugurating the committee at the party secretariat in Abuja stressed the need to ensure a sound working relationship between the governor and his deputy.
He said tmthe terms of reference included, interfacing and engaging with all contending parties with a view to gathering facts and circumstances surrounding the lingering impeachment process of the deputy governor.
Ganduje added that the committee would also advise the party on the most amicable ways of handling the lingering issues leading to the impeachment process of the deputy governor.
The chairman added that the committee would also make necessary recommendations to the party on resolution of issues and any other matter
He expressed optimism that the members of the committee with vast experience in public service have the wherewithal to achieve the goal.
Ganduje noted: “APC as a political party we are interested to see that there is a peaceful coexistence and a good working relationship between the governor of Ondo State and his deputy.
“In order to see how we can solve this problem, it is important to set a reconciliation committee. A reconciliation must consist of people who have relevant experience, cognitive knowledge on the issue before us.”
Members of the committee included, former Governor of Katsina state, Bello Masari as Chairman, former Governor of Osun State, Gboyega Oyetola, Mohammed Abubakar, Martins Elechi, Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Obafemi Hamzat, Sen. Tilley Gyado
Sen. Ita Giwa, Sen. Tokunbo Abiru and Liman Abbas will serve as the Secretary.
Masari, while responding, expressed appreciation over the decision to select them, assured that their intervention would resolve the issue between the governor and his deputy amicably.
