The political oblivion of former Governor of Osun state, Rauf Aregbesola was compounded on Tuesday after his successor and the Minister of Marine Economy was endorsed as the leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun state.
The endorsement ceremony was graced by Chief Adebisi Akande, Senator Ajibola Basiru, Chief Grace Titilayo Ponle, Senator Babajide Omoworare, Professor Mojeed Alabi, Party Chairman, Tajudeen Lawal, HRH Gboyega Famodun, Chief Shola Akinwumi, among others.
“I am deeply honored to have been endorsed by the Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the leader of our party in the state,” Oyetola posted on his X account.
TheHintsNews reports that both Aregbesola and Oyetola had been at loggerhead over the control of the party structure in the state.
Following the irreconcilable differences between the duo, Aregbesola teamed up with Ademola Adeleke of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to ensure that the APC and Oyetola lost the last governorship election.
The former Minister of Interior also fought with President Bola Tinubu during his face-off with Oyetola.
After the defeat of Oyetola, Aregbesola formed Omoluabi Progressives as a party of effort to resuscitate his political career and to gain control of the party structure in the state.
