The carnage going on in Plateau state has continued unabated with the terrorists again killing eight persons, including an eight-month-old baby in Farin Lamba community of Vwang District of Jos South local government area (LGA) of the state.
TheHintsNews reports that on Sunday the Sabon Gari community of Mangu local government area also came under attack with several lives lost and houses burnt.
In a statement issued Monday by the National Publicity Secretary, Berom Youth Moulders (BYM), Rwang Tengwong explained that hoodlums arrived the area Sunday at 9: 45 pm in a Vectra vehicle and sporadically shot at the victims, who were heading home after the day’s activities.
He said the baby who was killed by terrorists, who are referred to as bandits by the locals, was returning from the hospital when they met their untimely end.
Tengwong added that there have been daily ambush and killing of innocent persons in Riyom LGA, along the Abuja highway.
He said: “At about 9:45pm on Sunday night, 09/10/2023, eight persons including an eight month old baby were murdered by gunmen at Farin Lamba, Vwang District of Jos South Local Government Area.
“The bandits have continued to unleash terror on innocent citizens in some Communities of Riyom, Barkin Ladi, Jos South and Mangu Local Government Areas of Plateau state, in renewed attacks after the 2023 General Elections.
“The baby who was murdered with her father were said to be returning from the hospital when they met their untimely end. Before this unprovoked attack, several Communities in Riyom, Barkin Ladi, Jos South and Mangu Local Government witnessed deliberate destruction of farmlands and provocative grazing of over 300 hectares of land.
“Also, there have been daily ambush and killing of innocent persons in Riyom LGA, along the Abuja highway.”
However, theGeneral Officer Commanding 3 Armoured Division, Maxwell Cantonment, Major-Gen. Abdulsalam Abubakar, during an on-the-spot assessment visit Sabon Gari, Mangu local government area declared that he would ruthlessly deal with the criminal elements.
Abubakar promised to restore peace to communities that had been under attack.
