Police operatives attached to the Ogun State Command on January 29, 2025 have neutralised five kidnappers and rescued kidnapped victims.
Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi in a statement issued Sunday said upon sighting the operatives, the gang engaged the Police operatives in a gun duel.
He said: “On January 29 2025, Police operatives of the Ogun State Command carried out a covert operation and located the den of kidnappers responsible for an earlier reported abduction on January 25 2025.
“The confrontation led to the neutralisation of five of the gang members and the successful rescue of the three kidnapped victims, with the recovery of some arms and ammunition of various calibres, three mobile phones and the cash sum of N5.2 million.”
Adejobi stressed that the police also recovered vehicles of the kidnapped victims.
Also, the police operatives attached to the Kaduna State Command, on the 31st of January 2025, at about 7pm, apprehended three persons identified as Samson Peter , 25 years; Haruna Duniya, 45 years, and Abdulazaq Olawole, 58 years.
He said the suspects were arrested while trafficking 13 victims to Oyo State in an unmarked vehicle.
He said the victims were rescued, adding that the investigation is still ongoing.
