The Governor of Osun state, Senator Ademola Adeleke has done it again by stamping the cancellation of the enthronement of three kings in the state.
The dancing governor recently sacked Akinrun of Ikirun, Aree of Iree and Owa of Igbajo. He declared the installation of the three monarchs at the twilight of the Gboyega Oyetola administration a null and void.
Personally speaking, I would have loved to talk about all the affected Obas but I have my reservation. I would love to narrow it to the one that affected me directly which is the stool of Owa of Igbajo.
It’s an abuse of power which is totally nonsensical reading about the show of arrogance and power misuse by the dancing Governor.
The Governor in his actions without proper consultation and because of political interest was showing a level of oppression, disregarding the rights and well being of the people of affected towns.
Succinctly put, the sacking of the monarchs acts were not transparently done and if care is not taking, can cause unrest.
Igbajo, founded around 300AD with our ancestry traced back from Oduduwa in Ile-Ife was more of migration story of some groups of 10 Princes and their people ( Orangun of Ila, Oloyan of Oyan, Alara of Aramoko, Elefon of Efon Alaaye, Owa among others) .
They later departed to their different destinations leaving behind ten sacred stones on the spot of their meeting. These stones are still in the land of Igbajo till date.
The Citadel of the brave was also a meeting site of the famous Kiriji war of the 1800s, making the town not only important to Osun state but to the whole Yoruba race.
This is a town the dancing Governor is meddling with the tradition without taking into cognisance the history with his rash decision and arrogance of power.
I believe those who are fanning the embers of discord and promoting disunity in Igbajo would think twice and understand that politics is temporary while history is permanent.
Let this be on record that history will not forgive those behind this abnormality and that if the government tries to impose their own candidate for the stool of Owa of Igbajo by jettisoning the traditional selection process, they will meet a crude resistance by sons and daughters of Igbajo.
We are not just called Citadel of the brave for fun, We are warriors that fight only strong wars.
Finally, Let the dancing Governor be held responsible if Igbajo, one of the most peaceful towns in Nigeria is plunged into chaos by his acts and interventions to undermine the cultural significance and integrity of the enthronement process.
