Soldiers on Wednesday attacked staff of the Development Control Department of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Administration who were on official duty to demolish illegal structures allegedly belonging to one Maj-Gen. JT Audi.
TheHintsNews gathered that the soldiers under the instructions of Audu seized two Hilux vans of the Development Control while another one was destroyed.
Narrating his ordeal, one of the staff battered by the soldiers said the incident happened at Plot 416 Sabo Lugbe, belonging to Major Gen JT Audu.
The staff who preferred anonymity noted that they were removing fence/building punches with no approval at plot 416 in Sabo Lugbe.
His words: “When the removal was going on, Major Gen JT Audu got information about the removal. He sent two soldiers to his house to ascertain the situation.
“On getting to the scene, the soldier that drove the covered plate number vehicle blocked the way out of the house to prevent the enforcement team from coming out of the premises while threatening everybody that somebody must die today.
“Private Jamilu (surname unknown) went straight to the Caterpillar operator, cocked his rifle and pointed straight at him. He ordered him to come down or he will shoot him.
“The operator politely came down but was grabbed by the two soldiers. They squeeze his neck with his clothes and beat him to stupor and tear his shirt.
“Private Jamilu pulled his rifle and fired four tyres of the Caterpillar flat. He called Major Gen JT Audu to come along with more soldiers for reinforcement which he came with covered number plate number.
“He ordered his men to take Sector Sodangi and his site officer to his house to beat them. Three Hilux were taken to the Major Gen JT Audu house. The tires of the remaining vehicles that they could not lay hands on were flattened by gunshot.”
The staff added that all entrities from Chief of staff to President Bola Tinubu, Hon. Femi Gbajbiamila fell on the deaf ear of Audu who battered Development Control staff on official assignment.
