The Presidential Election Petition Tribunal has dismiised the petition of Labour Party and it’s Presidential candidate that President Bola Tinubu needs 25 percent of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to win the presidential election.
The tribunal held that the citizens of FCT do not enjoy special privileges ahead of other states of the federation.
The tribunal further argued that there is no constitutional provision making it mandatory for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to transmit results electronically from polling units real-time, saying It is hereby dismissed.
The tribunal further argued that Labour Party filed a petition on election malpractices in most polling units but couldn’t prove any malpractices to any polling unit, adding that the petition is vague.
The court added that LP said INEC reduced it scores and added it to APC votes but the LP couldn’t supply the court with their actual votes before the said reductions, neither did the party state the units where it happened
It said LP’s petition of election malpractices is hereby struck out.
