Abuja Bureau Chief of Tribune Newspapers, Dr. Leon Usigbe is dead.
Usigbe until his death was covering Presidential Villa and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Tribune newspapers.
TheHintsNews reports that Usigbe was down with ailment but was recently discharged. However, he suffered a relapse Thursday and was moved from Asokoro hospital to Federal Medical Centre, Abuja.
“Dr. Usigbe was said to be sick for sometime, but we didn’t think it would result to death,” a colleague, Mrs. Juliana Taiwo Obalonye disclosed this on a Whatsapp group platform Friday evening.
His death came barely a year after Kabiru Yusuf, representing the French Radio broadcasting network in the Aso Rock Presidential Villa died, shortly after returning from pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia.
Usigbe hailed from Uromi, Edo State. He was a staff of Vanguard in Kastina, Kaduna, before he was transferred to Abuja, covering the House of Representatives for Vanguard.
He was appointed as Media Aide to the former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Aminu Masari.
Usigbe subsequently returned to Vanguard before he joined the Tribune in Abuja.
He recently bagged his Phd in Media Arts from the University of Abuja. He was a passionate football lover and a stauch supporter of Chelsea Football club.
