The troops of Operation Fansan Yamma have neutralised several terrorist kingpins and also destroyed over 40 enclaves in the ongoing operation in Zamfara and Sokoto States from February 1 -10, 2025.
Coordinator, Joint Media Coordination Centre, Operation Fansan Yamma, Lt-Col. Abubakar Abdullahi in a statement issued Wednesday said the operation has resulted in the neutralisation of numerous terrorists, including several key terrorist kingpins.
He said: “During this period, troops successfully neutralised dozens of terrorists, including kingpins such as Kachalla Na Faransa, Dogon Bakkwalo, Auta Gobaje and Dan Mai Dutsi, among others.
“Notably, many of these individuals were eliminated in a fierce battle in Shinkafi and Zurmi Local Government Areas (LGA) of Zamfara State as well as Isa LGA of Sokoto State.
“The operations have also dismantled the terrorist network and destroyed their support structures thus, significantly weakening their operational capacity.
“In addition to neutralizing key figures, troops have actively targeted terrorist hideouts. An estimated 40 enclaves have been destroyed, with important locations such as Tungar Fulani, Unguwar Goga, Gangara Hill, and Gidan Maji cleared of terrorists.”
Abdulahi added that the extensive offensive operation was crucial in disrupting the logistical and operational capabilities of terrorists in the North West region.
He revealed that the troops successfully recovered a cache of arms and ammunition, which would be crucial in preventing further attacks.
Abdulahi noted that the troops rescued dozens of kidnapped victims during these operations, contributing to the overall security and peace in the affected areas.
