Troops of 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army, under Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke have rescued a kidnapped victim following sustained, robust, and aggressive search and rescue operations within the Brigade Area of Responsibility.
In a statement issued Wednesday, On 27 January 2026, troops deployed at Dogon Gawa, Taraba State, while conducting ongoing search and rescue operations, sighted and rescued a man who had been abandoned in the bush by his captors.
It said the victim was later identified as Mr Ghali.
It added: “Further investigations revealed that Mr Ghali and another victim, Mr Simon Oluchukwu, were abducted on 11 January 2026 at Gbise Village, Mbayonga of Benue State.
“During the abduction, their driver was sadly killed by the kidnappers.
“Following his rescue, Mr Ghali was immediately debriefed, provided with necessary medical care, and subsequently reunited with his family.”
Speaking on the success of the operation, the Commander, 6 Brigade Nigerian Army / Sector 3 OPWS, Brig-Gen. Kingsley Uwa, commended the troops for their tenacity, courage, and professionalism.
He assured that operations in the area would be further intensified to ensure the rescue of the remaining victim and the arrest of the perpetrators.
