The Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Nyesom Wike has described the former Governor of Sokoto state, Hon. Aminu Tambuwal has a consistent betrayal.
Wike stated this while reacting to the statement made about him by Tambuwal when featuring on Politics Today on Channels television.
TheHintsNews reports that Tambuwal while featuring on the same programme said he can trust Wike with his phone but he can’t trust him with the leadership position of the country, Wike said Tambuwal has the same trajectory with Atiku.
Wike stated: “I have never come out on national television to talk about Aminu Tambuwal and this is just an opportunity to talk about him. He said he (Tambuwal) trusts Atiku in terms of leadership, why not? These are people who have been consistently inconsistent. When you’re a consistent betrayal, what do you expect? Birds of the same thing that flock together.
“There’s no way Aminu will not go along with Atiku, knowing fully well their antecedents. What does he know about leadership?
“Take for example, Atiku was in PDP in 1999, he became the vice president. Is that not correct? He went to challenge his boss, people pleaded with him…Later, now President Asiwaju gave him ACN ticket. He left, came back to PDP to run, he didn’t make it. He left to join APC. He ran against (Muhammadu) Buhari, he lost. He came back to the same PDP. In 2019 he got the ticket, he got the ticket in 2022, we failed him.”
When reminded that he was responsible for Atiku’s failure, he answered in affirmative
He said: “You have to fail people who are not consistent in life… I played a role, I was the head person to ensure that Atiku does not win.”
Asked if he was happy with what he did, Wike added, “very much, even I will do it now. He left again to ADC.”
While giving details of how inconsistent Tambuwal has been, Wike recalled that in 1999 he was Special Assistant to Senator Abdul Wali.
He added: “He left, he joined DPP, or whatever the name is called. He came back to PDP. He became a Speaker. We are those who funded that position. He left PDP and went to APC. In 2014, he left APC by 2017 to join PDP so he will run for president. Now again, he’s going back to ADC.
“Now look at this trajectory and look at Atiku. But mention Wike from 1999 till now. In 2019, who was Tambuwal? I was the Tambuwal people were hearing. Because of Tambuwal, I had to take the national convention to Port Harcourt. What is important is you being consistent with people.”
Wike further recalled that Tambuwal almost lost his second term election. There was a run off election because it only won with over 300 votes.
The minister noted that he assembled the legal team to defend Tambuwal ‘s election in court.
Wike recalled that he lost the Presidential ticket to Atiku in 2022 because of Tambuwal ‘s betrayal.
He said while the former Senate President, Bukola Saraki refused to step down for Atiku, Tambuwal whom he had always stood by stepped down and also directed his delegates to vote for Atiku.
On the speculation that former President Goodluck Jonathan might join the presidential race in 2027 and jeopardizing Tinubu’s chances, Wike wondered why those calling on him now stood against him in 2015
According to him, Those calling Jonathan now, what happened in 2015 that they refused him. These same people were the ones that said Jonathan must never…
Asked if his loyalty won’t be divided between Jonathan and Tinubu, Wike said he didn’t sit with Jonathan and made a promise to support him.
