The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has disclosed that 19 states in the North-Central zone, South-East and coastal areas are at risks of impending heat stress. NiMet alert issued on Tuesday showed the rising temperatures and high humidity levels over the next three to four days and this may cause thermal discomfort across several regions. The potential health risks, it added, included fatigue and irritability, reduced focus and motor skills and lower productivity. The House of Representatives has called on the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to immediately suspend the implementation of increase in ATM transaction charges and stoppage of free ATM withdrawals for customers from other banks.
