The House of Representatives has directed the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) to immediately suspend the acquisition of OVH Energy Marketing. It also called on the entity to propose relocation of the NNPC Retail Head office from Abuja to Lagos pending the outcome of the investigation. Soldiers in Niger have blockaded the presidential palace, as well as several ministries in the capital, Niamey, according to reports. No shots were fired and it’s not clear if this is an attempt by the presidential guard to seize power. The president’s office tweeted that the guards unsuccessfully tried to get support from the military in their “anti-republican” efforts. The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), has issued  a seven-day ultimatum to the federal government  to reverse all perceived anti-poor policies, including the recent hike in the pump price of petrol.
